Creating Yahoo!TM Style Buttons with Paint Shop Pro
I've had such a heavy amount of e-mail asking how the Yahoo!TM buttons are done that I've decided to put up a tutorial on them. In fact, I've had so many requests that I'll be writing tutorials for Photo shop and Corel DRAW!, as well.
The buttons are actually quite easy to create. The truth is that they're really just a variation of the spheres in tutorial 11.
Open a new 200x200x16.6 million color image in Paint Shop Pro. You can shrink it down later which will actually smooth it out a little.
Set the foreground color to black and the background color to white.
Select the Selection tool and set the Selection Type to Circle and the Feather to 3.
Draw a circular selection that mostly fills the image.
Select the Flood Fill tool and set the Fill Style to Linear Gradient.
Click the Options button and set the direction to 135 degrees.
Click anywhere in the selection to fill it with the linear gradient (see figure 15.1).

Select the Selection tool again and draw another smaller circle inside of the filled circle (see figure 15.2).

Select the Flood Fill tool again and set the foregound color to white and choose a background color that you'd like the button to be. I chose a shade of blue.
Set the options for the Flood Fill as follows:
- Match Mode: None
- Tolerance: 0
- Fill Style: Sunburst Gradient
Click the Options button and set the Vertcal to 75% and the Horizontal to 25%.
Click anywhere in the selected area to fill it with the Sunburst Gradient (see figure 15.3).

All that's left, of course, is to add some clip-art to the button, shrink it down to the size you want and save it as a web-ready GIF or JPG.
Figure 15.4 shows my finished "Yippee!" button.
